While perusing the streets of Oakland, there's a good chance you will stumble upon one of the lastest street art incarnations, the thought-provoking work of Brooklyn-based artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. Her series "Stop Telling Women to Smile" lives both on the streets in the form of b&w wheat pastes, and on a much larger scale at the Betti Ono Gallery (one of our favorite art escapes in Oakland). The project addresses gender-based street harassment, and it's garnered a lot of attention in recent months. The collage at the bottom are a series of portraits by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh of Bay Area women. The show runs until April 19, so make haste and pop in to check it out if in downtown Oakland.
